I took a quick look at our Installation notes and found this note about the 503 error:

DBXL installer encounters 503 error

When installing DBXL, you may encounter the following message: “The installation failed, and the rollback has been performed -->Error initializing DBXL database. --> the request failed with HTTP status 503: Service unavailable.” Should you come across this, please check the state of the DBXL Application Pool in IIS and make sure it is started. If it is stopped, there is likely a problem with the user account/password being used. You can try resetting it in the Identity tab of the app pool's property page, then restart the app pool and try installation again.

Installation Error

I trying to install Qdabra Database Accelerator v2.3 and am receiving the following error: "Error initializing DBXL database --> The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service unavailable"

The HTTP.sys error log give an error value of "AppOffline"; according to MS documentation this means "The application pool has been put into Rapid Fail Protection and has been disabled automatically."

I have sysadmin rights on the SQL Server 2005 instance and the "Test Connection" to the instance succeeds.

Any ideas?
