1) Run Internet Explorer as Administrator. Then browse to http://localhost/QdabraWebService/default.htm and click on Administration Tool. You will now be running as a local administrator.

or

2) Create a new local group called DBXLAdmins and add yourself to this group. Then update the QdabraWebService web.config, changing all instances of BUILTIN\Administrators with yourmachinename\DBXLAdmins.

I did not think he would stick out from the crowd over there. :)

You need SQL Management studio to work on the database directly. This does not get installed by default unfortunately. I would make sure it is included in your Express or trial download package and then run the install again (repair) and make sure management studio is included.

Then you will have it on your computer and can connect to the database and set the permissions, etc. You will need to be able to create additional databases etc. In 2000 it was called SQL Manager.

Re: I0033: Access denied

Ok, that's cool. Maybe I will set up a meeting with you guys sometime soon in that case.

Actually the reason I'm here is that I'm a programmer and I met Mr. Halstead by chance while he was passing through my town a few days ago. I'm hoping to do some coding for your team, but I don't have any experience with Windows databases or InfoPath, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Regarding my current issue, I can't seem to find a way to view or modify permissions for SQL Express. The SQL Server Configuration Manager doesn't seem to have many settings to modify at all, and the Surface Area Configuration has a utility relating to permissions in Vista, but that doesn't seem to be quite right either, and in any case I tried it and it didn't help.

Searching around the internet I found this page that seems tangentially related to my problem, but I can't find anything called SQL Server Manager, and as I mentioned, the Server Configuration Manager doesn't seem to let me modify permissions of any sort:
http://w3ka.blogspot.com/2008/01/sql-server-express-permissions.html

I found another page (which I can't seem to find now) that said something about modifying the User Rights in the Local Security Policy, but I can't find anything there seemingly related to SQL or this situation.

I could try using the trial developer version of SQL Server if that might make it easier to set permissions, but do you have any ideas? Am I overlooking something?

Thanks again.

Re: I0033: Access denied

We actually do a lot of business in Japan so we can make the time work.
