Hi Ted,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I had developed a custom workflow using a VS2008. Now i am not able to decide on which event should i write a piece of code that can be retrieve data from saved xml file and store into custom list. Also suggest that how can i retrieve data from infopath form data into workflow. Please any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks for all your support.

Hi again,

It seems like the easiest way to do this would be to have a SharePoint worklfow tied to status in the workflow that then fires and copies the XML to another library. However from what you are describing it sounds like you want the document to be parsed and each field in the form to be mapped to the columns in a sharepoint list. That would require code and you can't do that with out of the box SharePoint workflow, also it sounds much too complex for SharePoint designer worklfow. I think you might be able to do this by using Visual Studio though and customizing the workflow that way and installing a custom app in SharePoint to do this.

Thank for you reply. I want to do some custom code only.I had code for the same also but once i press submit button of infopath form data will archive into list.

But i want to do something different once my workflow get completed then only i want to archive data into list of my infopath form. Can you please suggest how would i get infopath data into which workflow event so that i can archive my data into sharepoint custom list.

Hi Bhavin,

To get the data from InfoPath into a SharePoint custom list is going to require code and to get the form into SQL once your workflow is completed will also require some custom work.

Does the user open the InfoPath form to complete the workflow or is it done in SharePoint only?

Through a combination of our tools you can accomplish what you need to do without writing your own code:

qRules can be used to crete the SharePoint list item. This would require the form to be opened and a button to be pressed at the right time to create the SharePoint list item

DBXL can be used to get the XML into SQL server either as a blob file saved in the DB or as a blob file saved in the DB and also mapped to a SQL DB if you need to do reporting on the expense report.

I have Exp infopath form with custom workflow. I want to archive infopath data into sharepoint custom list as well as SQL Server 2005 once my workflow get completed.

Please suggest best practice to implement above scenario.
