Can i get some detail explanation for this,as i am not able to define user roles for this browser enabled form

Thanks in advance.

Re: Timesheet and workflow and SharePoint Integration

Hi Patrick,

Am a newcomer to this forum(Infact joined today only). Also am new into Infopath and MOSS.

I would like to know how we can create and design workflows using Infopath2007 and MOSS2007 for leave application, timesheet aproval etc.

Any comments will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Renju

Re: Timesheet and workflow and SharePoint Integration

Hi Patrick,

I have being looking for an advanced timesheet for sharepoint and nothing I have found is able to do what I want. I have basic knowledge of MOSS and have being learning along the way.

I currently have a timesheet in excel 2007 with some very detailed formulae which unfortunately InfoPath 2007 does not support. I am hoping that there is a way to write this formulae in InfoPath so that my timesheet can perform the same function.

My Excel spreadsheet calculates the amount of hours spent on a support call and how many regular and/or overtime hours were spent on the call based on the start and end times that are stipulated.

I am very new to InfoPath, and have no idea where to start. Basically my TimeSheet InfoPath/Sharepoint form should do the following:

1) Engineer Enters relevant details, selecting from drop-downs of client details excetera pulled from a sharepoint list - This i have figured out how to do.- more or less ;)
2) Start and End Times are entered with the support call details, the Regular and/or Overtime hours are calculated automatically and the relevant support units are calculated based on the results of the Regular and Overtimes hours.
3) Upon submitting the form, a stipulated view is sent to the printer so that the document can be signed by the engineer and faxed or scanned and emailed to the client to print sign and fax or email back.

I am sure I would eventually figure out the views and printing etc. but my problem is the Formulae.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You can do this without writing code (C#, Visual Designer) and without using BizTalk. But, I need to understand your requirements more first. Do you have SharePoint 2003 or SharePoint 2007? Do you need to prevent employees from editing when the form is assigned to manager? Do you need to prevent employees from seeing details of form?

Over the years, we have many timesheet forms. I'd be happy to show you a form that does exactly what you are asking for. Or you could develop your own.

General recommendations:

Use InfoPath and SharePoint at the start

Create two views in InfoPath (one read-only and one editable)

Define three user roles in your form

Set buttons for Submit to Manager and Submit to Supervisor and set state in form based on that

Define open rules that read state and user role and switch to view based on that

Add e-mail data connections to send e-mail on submit button click (add rule to submit button click after setting state)

Add submit to SharePoint data connector and add rule to submit button to call that at the end (and then close)

You're done! Oh wait, you have to create the form's UI and datasource too. But, that's easy too. No code reduces maintenance.

The timesheet should go to the employee supervisor to be approved, then if the supervisor verify that it is acceptable it should be sent to the Manager and then payrole. This should happen for each employee. What is the best way to integrate this into Sharepoint? Using C#, SharePoint list, Visual Designer or Biztalk? Thanks.
