However when I test these data sources seperately they seem to be doing exactly what I want them to do. The problem is having both these data sources 'receive' and 'submit' in the same form - I cant seem to understand why it would not work.

What could I be doing wrong.

Re: Need help on creating a workflow process

The receive and submit is built into InfoPath. If you setup a receive or submit connection it will handle it appropriately. These would each be a seperate datasource usually.

Workflow is very easy to build into your form as long as you track the form state and the user. I use an active directory web service to ID each user and say their manager, email, department, location etc from AD.

It sounds like you are researching or ramping up on InfoPath. It can do just about everything most people need.

Re: Need help on creating a workflow process

Hi Clay Im not too sure if what I want to know is similiar. But is it possible to send and receive data within a infopath form? If so, should one define several data sources within the form itself - i.e. One data source to receive data and another to submit to the database?

I would also like to find out if one is actually able to have a workflow (email) whilst receiving and submitting data on the form?

Re: Need help on creating a workflow process

Yes this can be done. I have doen a solution very similar for Managers to request a position through interviews and HR filling it.

You should look at the Database Accelerator as this is key to having an enterprise solution which has the security and performance you need. Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer

If you would like a demo of a couple different work flow methods send me an email.

Need help on creating a workflow process

Hello,

I am trying to create an automated process for how we hire new employees. I currently have an infopath form that I want to be able to submit it to an SQL server database and have a trigger in it that once the form is submitted it sends another form to whoever was in the hiring manager field (the field is in the first form). Is there anyway this can be done?

Thank you.
