However, I've not based a form off a web service before. Hopefully someone who has will have some insight?

Re: Modifications to existing main submit DS

Thanks for the reply.

Repeating the data source definition does not seem to work. The new fields are not added into the list of fields in the field "tree".

As for manually editing the files, this is currently our only option. But the ultimate form designers will not be very technical people, and I was hoping there was a simpler way to do this.

I must say I am puzzled. Doesn't this sort of scenario happen a lot? Shouldn't there be a standard way to "reload" a data source? Once you have designed a form based on a web service, what are you supposed to do if the web service definition changes?

Eli

Re: Modifications to existing main submit DS

What about just walking through the data connection wizard again? I know with SQL connections, that will allow you to select additional columns, and I know it will work with a secondary data connection to a web service. You could also save your form as source files and modify the schema by hand (Backup your form first, of course!!!!)

Modifications to existing main submit DS

Hi All,

Apologies if this has come up before, but I have not found it. I am somewhat new to InfoPath. I am using InfoPath 2007.

I have a form template where the main datasource is a web service for submit. While designing the form, the web service has been modified and new fields were added. I want to update the form's main datasource so that I can add the new fields onto the form.

I have tried using Convert Main Data Source and modifying the data connection, but I have not managed to get the new fields to appear in the list of fields. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eli
