If not, you can still look at the threads posted on it for info on how to connect InfoPath to AD Web Services. The $19.95 download contains useful instructions as well. This is by far our most popular download and tons of people use it. For $19.95, it's hard to beat.
:)

Patrick Halstead [InfoPath MVP]
InfoPathDev

Re: data fields to web service - missing something?

Tom:

Did you ever get your problem figured out? An simple test you can do is:

- When setting connection, check to see of you that automatically retrieve data when form is opened checkbox checked. I would not leave this on in production because it will affect performance. You can hook the running of the web service up later to a button.
- Then in your InfoPath task pane, go to data source, and there is a dropdown box. Select the data source for the web service you are working with. Then slimply go into the dataField nodes, select some elements and drag them onto your form.

This should at least tell you if data is being returned.

FYI. If you have paramters in your web service signature, you can drag over fields from the queryFields node. Then the user can fill in data and press a button that will run your web service.

data fields to web service - missing something?

Hi,

I was wondering if somebody could point out something I am missing in my attempts to integrate an Infopath form to a web service. I have put together a web service that returns a list of users from Active directory based on the users input. This works fine when I test it by opening the service from within the sharepoint server itself. However, when I try to link this to data fields in Infopath, it does not seem to be picking any data up.

I initially thought it might be to do with the disco and wsdl files that are talked about on the microsoft site but Infopath seems to find the web service ok?

Also, when I navigate to the web service page from my client machine, I don't get the option to input any data (test the service).

Please could anyone point me in the right direction to get this working?

Thanks very much for your time.

Tom
