If the form is opening in the browser, you can configure a UDCx file (universal data connection) to login to a separate server but it will require hardcoding the credentials in the UDCx which is not a good security practice.

I recommend using our ultra cheap Web service (DBXL). The Beginner license lets you query SQL and it's super fast and very flexible.

Give me a ring and I'd be happy to show you a demo.

Re: Pulling Data from SQL 2008 into Infopath 2010

I have created a form with 2 fields - one Text field that when filled runs a query by rule to get data from a SQL server and place it in the other field.

Re: Pulling Data from SQL 2008 into Infopath 2010

So to verify what you are saying - if I have a form published to a sharepoint site that need to pull SQL data from a seperate server I need to have it full trust (Digitally signed)?

Re: Pulling Data from SQL 2008 into Infopath 2010

It may be that your form is trying to talk to a service in a different domain and it can't trust it. Perhaps a cross domain issue? Are you publishing the form to a site, say, http://abc.com and trying to query to SQL that is hosted in a different server?

Re: Pulling Data from SQL 2008 into Infopath 2010

I did approve it and I do not have code - thanks Jo-Anne

Re: Pulling Data from SQL 2008 into Infopath 2010

Hi DebiScott:

Just to rule out, did you approve the UDCX in the SharePoint site? So I have started over with the following -

1. I have created a form with 2 fields - one Text field that when filled runs a query by rule to get data from a SQL server and place it in the other field.

2. I added a UDCX source that is in my DataConnections database on the site.

3. I can retrieve the data from preview in Infopath (the form .xsn is saved on the Sharepint server) but not within the browser once it is published.

error =

An error occurred querying a data source.

Click OK to resume filling out the form. You may want to check your form data for errors.

If someone could please give me step by step that will get me to be able to query SQL data from my Infopath form I would really appreciate it.
