Say in a Sharepoint Document library or file system. In that case your ASP page you will point the hyper link column to point to the appropriate file in sharepoint document library. This would be relatively staright forward.

2) In the other scenario of where you don't have the xml, then you have to cook the xml(with infopath PI etc) and throw it to browser as an attachemnt, and InfoPath form would get opened. While cooking the xml you can either put all the row data in the xml and load the infopath, or just put the row_id and make infopath get the data when it loads-up. So the link on your asp page will be something like "CookXml.asp?row_id=1234", and this page can do the work of preparing the xml and throwing to browser. This too is not hard in C#, but i am not sure about ASP.

hope this helps :)

thanks,
Shyam

Shyam
InfoPath Dev
India

Re: Link on ASP page to open Form with data from db

You'll have to add code to get the XML data from the database and send it to IE. I have a form that inserts information into a database (created form from data connection).

My HR department wants to be able to view some of the info from the web. This is not a problem as I can do a simple ASP (not .NET) to display some of the information.

What i want to know is, can I supply a link for each of the records listed to then have that record open up in the form

Dave
