I was asking why cant mmenzie do this instead of modifying his submit option. Is he sending the email from the form or using SPD workflow? I was just trying to get more details around his issue and may be the option of using Created By field solves his issue. But he never replied.

Re: how do i "pull" the name of the form submitter

Hi kapil_kjoshi,

When using a function such as userName() to display the submitter, set a condition to the rule that populates the submitter field to only run if the submitter field is blank. This condition will prevent the field from being re-populated. Please check submit button rule on the sample form I am attaching for your reference. Hope this helps.

how do i "pull" the name of the form submitter

i have a hidden button that is supposed to send an email to the form submitter. this button only shows when the form is opened... so... since the person opening the form to see the button is the approver and not the form submitter he click the button and it send the email to himself. how can i place a field in the hidden section that pulls the name of the form submitter instead of the name of the person openning the form??
