I am new and don't really understand the question, so let me share what I am trying to achieve and maybe you can helps.

I have a SP site in O365 in which I have created a list holding resources. The resources have several parameters each and couple of those are "physical location" and "pool".

I want to enable users to open an InfoPath form, select their "physical location" and " pool" of preference, then select start and end dates of the booking and get a query of what resources are available given the constraints. Then they will select one of the resources that matches the criteria and book it. Booking involves approval by admin and also an entry in calendar list.

I have been testing options and got closest by leveraging filtering thru REST, but couldn't finish it all, I feel it is possible and I am close, but need help finalizing.

Do you think you can help me out?

Many thanks!

Re: Build resource booking system - help needed

Hi - so does your calendar information include the resource?

Build resource booking system - help needed

Hello,

I need some guidance on building a resource reservation system running in SharePoint 2013 on O365. I have read through the articles and tried different options, but I really want to keep away from the backwards compatible workaround with having resource-enabled calendar for 2 reasons - there is no guarantee that it will be supported in future and it is not meeting my requirements.

So the story is:

- We have pool of resources in a SP list that are split in different physical locations.

- The user is supposed to open an InfoPath form, select the desired location, select desired dates and the form should return a list of available resources for the selected location.

- The user selects the resource he wants to reserve and sends the request for approval.

So far I have created the database of the resources in a SP list. I have also managed to leverage REST in InfoPath to check for duplicating events in the calendar. BUT my biggest challenge is how to implement such check not only on dates, but also on the resource selected.

Any hints on how to achieve this will be much appreciated!

Thanks.
