If not, you should be able to solve your problem using content types. The idea is that the old template and the new template will be different content types both published to the same library.

First, you want to republish both the old and new templates as content types. Next, you want to go into your form library settings -> Advanced settings, and then select "Yes" to the question "Allow management of content types?" Here is a link to an InfoPathDev blog post that goes through the necessary steps in greater detail: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/jo-anne_alfafara/archive/2010/10/06/side-by-side-versioning-with-content-types2.aspx

Infopath form updates old items/forms in sharepoint libary

Hi,

I have a Sharepoint form libary where I have publiced an Infopath form for users to fill out in the browser. There is about 100 items in the list by now. Now I have made some changes to the form and wants to publish it, so new items that are created uses the new form, but the ones that are already in the list should keep the old form. I have changed the versioning in Infopath (2010) not to do anything about the old forms, but it does anyway.

What can I do about this? I only want new items to use the new form.

/Louise

(Infopath 2010 and Sharepoint 2010)
