What is the limit of InfoPath fields that can be promoted to a SP List?
Additionally, does the type of field being promoted or # of data connections make a difference in terms of these limits?
I've searched this forum (found discussions from 2006 and 2007 but no definitive answers). Does anyone know the current specs?

I am suspecting it is somewhere in the 150 - 180 range but I am getting different results in different forms, one of which has a lot of fields, mostly boolean.
(Haven't specifically counted, this is just a rough estimation.) I can't publish, remove some fields, and then I can.

Source info: MS Guidelines for acceptable performance: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787(office.12).aspx#section3.

If there is a limit, does anyone have suggestions for splitting up a form that has 5 views of data (gathering impact assessment info)? I still need to present it to users in a unified manner somehow (stopping to open 5 forms would be unacceptable). Additionally, users have a mix of InfoPath Filler 2010, 2007 and if I go to a web browser form, I am limited due to IE 6 being in use. [Yeah...I know...don't ask. Just trust me, it is a limitation.]

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice!
