Mine are in a data connection library at the root level.

So, I hopped into Central Admin. I uploaded a data connection. I can't find any way to use it.

Here's another thread talking about this... It's a bit old.

This technet article looks a bit more promising. It says the data connection files can be used by any templates uploaded to Central Admin (admin approved). But it really doesn't seem to get into how to connect from your form. A message in this thread suggests that you should initiall convert to a relative connection, then change it and take the centrally managed option...

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

"to the library"...

I think that is where we are diconnecting

I'm in Central Admin -> General Application Settings -> Manage Data Connection Files I put my udcx files there. My question is how do I then access them?

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

And your data connection is already uploaded to the library you want to use for this?

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

I'm trying to convert an existing connection from a local data connection library to a centrally managed connection library. I have no problem connecting to my local data connection.

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

So, my data connection library is already created, my data connections are already there. In the data connection wizard, I select Search for connections on a Microsoft SharePoint Server.

I click next, select my root site, select my data connection library, select my data connection and click the Connection Options button. I select the centrally managed connection library option and can see in the dialog that the data conection is going to be like yours above.

I then created a new recieve data connection and went back and converted it, using a url to my existing data connection in my existing data connection library - like the URL I initially posted - that worked as expected too.

Are you trying to convert a data connection in your form to use an existing data connection in a centrally managed library? Create a new one?

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

Can you expand your xsn file and open the manifest.xsf file in notepad and tell me what your data connection looks like?

Here is mine:

     <xsf2:webServiceAdapterExtension ref="GetQuery" trackDataSetChanges="no">
      <xsf2:connectoid connectionLinkType="store" source="_layouts/GetDataConnectionLibrary.aspx?Udc=GetQuery" siteCollection="http://localhost/" name="GetQuery"></xsf2:connectoid>
     </xsf2:webServiceAdapterExtension>

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

when I map the centrally managed connection library, it gives the appearance that is going to be at:

http://server/_layouts/GetDataConnectionFile.aspx?Udc=<dataconnectionname>

     <xsf2:webServiceAdapterExtension ref="GetQuery" trackDataSetChanges="no">
      <xsf2:connectoid connectionLinkType="store" source="_layouts/GetDataConnectionLibrary.aspx?Udc=GetQuery" siteCollection="http://server/" name="GetQuery"></xsf2:connectoid>
     </xsf2:webServiceAdapterExtension>

When I try that I get the error that the file cannot be found:

Re: Centrally Managed Connection Library

I have a library at the root level:
