I have an Infopath form that hides/shows containers and selects check
boxes based on parameters in the contains() function. I use an external
data source to draw in the first parameter string and use a choice box
to fill the second parameter. Since Infopath
does not allow filtering of the first parameter with the selection
boxes I have to edit the Xpath and build a custom expression. The
expression that I build will work sucessfully in the Infopath preview
but when I publish the form to the sharepoint site the
logic always evaluates to true. Here is an example of the expression
used for the logic:

contains(xdXDocument:GetDOM("DataSource")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Templates_Clean[../d:ID
= 2], string(.))

This rule is applied to the choice box so when the box contains a
template the "string(.)" and if this string is contained in the string
from the external data source the box is checked. Why does this not
transfer to SharePoint?

I have tried a connection to a site library of UDC files to avoid any
persissions to the list in SharePoint and this still does not work.

Thanks in advance!
