So this is using the Save operation, where the user is asked for a filename? If so, I don't think there's any connection set up between this form and the SharePoint list, so the SharePoint list would indeed not be updated.

Can I propose an alternative? In your SharePoint list, in the ribbon, there should be an icon to customize the InfoPath form. SharePoint will launch the InfoPath designer and provide you with a form that will allow users to edit the list items. This is probably the easiest option - can you try it and let us know whether it addresses your scenario?

Ok going to try and explain my dilemma, I have SharePoint 2010 using Info path 2010 so i am hoping i can get this to work without too much.I created a 2010 SharePoint list that populates data from Our ERP system. -Works fineThen I created a SharePoint Library using Info Path 2010 that grabs some data from my erp and from List I created - works great

Now when the form is created, my list info is displayed in a repeating table I have the ability to edit the fields but when i save it. It doesn’t update the list when i reopen the fourm it reverts back to how the list was.

The fourm is going to be opend a few times and each time updated with more info .. i need the abilty to keep the list updated. can this be done
