When published to the browser, this no longer makes sense since the logged in user is the server account. Please use UserProfileService to get the user name. Or, you can install a third-party Active Directory Web Service, such as Qdabra's ADWS which has more functionality and is easier to use.

Inconsistent User Info From GetUserProfileByName

I’ve got an InfoPath 2010 form hosted in SharePoint 2010 that displays an incorrect identity in a People Picker depending on which environment it is published. The People Picker is populated using the GetUserProfileByName method of the UserProfileService web service and I am not specifying the username (relying on the default to pick up the current user). The Username() function correctly displays my logged in username in a separate form field. This works correctly in my development installation of SharePoint and in previous deployments, but currently the published form is showing a server identity (SharepointSQLService) rather than my AD username. It is a browser-enabled form with security set to Domain.

Any ideas why a different identity is being used for UserProfileService web service?
