From this page: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sv-SE/sharepoint2010customization/thread/a802b48c-66e9-4606-986d-db68d9a8e124

Changing the Browser File Handling under Central Admin for the site collection the xsn file is on to 'Permissive' meant that at least the 'Open' button is now appearing as an option beside Save As.

I would still prefer it to simply automatically open the file in InfoPath (like the locally saved xsn does), but still researching that one.

Re: No option to open form

Coming to the party waaaaaaaay late, but this is the only reference to this problem I have found so far.

Same deal - opening an xsn file from SP2007 - 'open' and 'save' are both given as options. Open the same xsn from SP2010 - only 'save' is given.

Was there ever a resolution to this?

Jason

Re: No option to open form

you might be able to use a calucated field or something to create the hyperlink though?

Re: No option to open form

thanks for that but the lists of links already exist and it would be a massive job to change them all to use script on the page

Re: No option to open form

Hi Phil,

Take a look at Shirz's blog here: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/shiraz/archive/2007/08/16/best-way-to-launch-forms-from-web-pages.aspx

I think the issue is that just a link to the template.xsn isn't ideal for IE/InfoPath. In Shirz's blog he talks about the proper way to open a form that forces it to open in InfoPath which is what you want.

Hope that does the trick

Ted

No option to open form

I have published an Infopath 2007 form to a Sharepoint 2010 site. On the site I have a list with a URL to the form. When I click on the link it says "do you want to save this file"

The URL is oursite/ourlibrary/template.xsn - I am not using content types. I want ot use the client to open the form.

In Sharepoint 2007 it opened the form in the client without any dialog box

I wonder whether this si due to some setting in Internet Explorer but why should the behaviour be different in different editions of Sharepoint? Another possibiliuty might be a security setting in Office but once again why the different behaviour?

Have searched exhaustively for this but got no answers. It's threatening to derail our implementation of Sharepoint 2010

All help gratefully received even if it's just a link to a similar post
