Out of nowhere, all InfoPath forms opened by the InfoPath client from a SharePoint form library were read-only. I tried every suggestion I could find on message boards (rebuild web folders, reinstall Office/InfoPath, reinstall mdac, etc.) and nothing worked. Very frustrating. What finally worked was reinstalling the browser (IE 8 in my case).

Re: Error.. The user has gone as far as rebooting his PC in attempt to get it to work.

Re: Error.. Such as do you have to check out a file to edit? 4) Are there any pop up boxes when you open your form asking you to read or edit. When opening a form from a relevant documents site feature we have to click open as read only for the form to open properly and then it allows us to edit it, which is strange. 5) Check the settings for how you published the form. Maybe re-publish.

For your second post regarding the speed issue when opening forms. If you are running windows 7 this may apply. I moved one user to windows 7 and noticed that infopath forms took a long time to open from our sharepoint site I cannot find a link to a search result I found but it solved the problem. Do some web searches and you should find a post with several different items to try including Disable autotuning, Remove Remote differential Compression, Remove IPv6, Clear DNS Cache, Modifying Link speed and duplex values in the network adapter properties.

Re: Error.. I had both Microsoft infopath 2010 as well as 2007 installed on my computer. I uninstalled infopath 2010 and then I stopped having this issue.

I had both 2007 as well as 2010 for a while on my computer and everything still seemed to work fine. So I must have done something wrong related to Infopath 2010 that was causing this error. For urgency sake we simply uninstaleld infopath 2010 and this issue was resolved.

Error.. I have been able to open the same form very recently and make changes and save it. I am an owner on the sharepoint site. The error is .....................................

"InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted to the following location: https://SharePoint site/Form1/Form1.xml
The form is marked as read-only."................................................................................................................................

What could the reason for the above error be?

Also, for some reason I am unable to save or make changes to any form on our SharePoint site but another user(also an owner) is able to. I get the error above. ALso, the forms are taking a long long time to open. COuld this be a sharepoint server issue?
