That's a good solution. You can use SharePoint Designer to create a custom view that takes the group data from the "profile" form and uses it to filter the actual "bulletin" forms from the other library. You could also map both to SQL and create a data view on top of it. Lots of options. Let us know if you need some help. We do this for a living! :)

Cheers!

InfoPath Form Subscriptions based on Another InfoPath form answer

I have a bit of loaded question, but I would really appreciate it if some of the gurus here could shed some insight on some options for me.

Here is the scenario: We have different business groups where I work, and we release "bulletins" (basically communications) that apply to different combinations of business groups. These bulletins are going to be InfoPath forms. They will be stored in SharePoint (MOSS). I need to create a workflow (using SP Designer) that sees what groups a user has chosen to "subscribe" to and send them only those bulletins that match what their business group preferences are.

So, here's how I was thinking I could do it, but I am falling a bit short. All new users fill out a "business group" form that basically has them select what business groups they want to receive bulletins on. This information is stored in a SharePoint list, along with the user's information (name, email). Then I have another forms library that stores the actual bulletins (and is where people author the bulletins). When someone authors one of these forms, they choose what business group the bulletin should go to. The workflow needs to look at the first library and see that "Joe Jones" subscribed to Business Group A, and THIS bulletin applies to Business Group A, so send an alert to Joe Jones.

I am new to SharePoint Designer, but skilled in SharePoint and familiar with InfoPath. If there is a way to do this without custom code, it would be incredible. Thanks!
