Yes you could do that using user roles in InfoPath or workflow in the InfoPath form. Basically have a view that is for approval only where everything is read only execpt for the approve button/checkbox etc.

Are these browser based IPFS forms or fat client?

Thanks for your help, I have tried this but the problem seems that the approve is associated with edit, once I remove edit the approve removes itself too.

I wonder is there is a way to set the infopath form fields to be none editable once submited, so in this case the approver wont be able to edit due to infopath rules rather than moss permissions. please let me know if you know how this can be done. Many thanks

Yes, you can do this in SharePoint. You need to edit the permissions levels for the group of users who need to approve only and not edit. You should create a special group for these users (for example create an "approvers" group in SharePoint) and then edit their permissions. See the attached screenshot that shows you the options you can customize. As you can see you can choose to give someone only approve ability and remove the edit ability.

Hope this helps

We are using an infopath form in MOSS as a form library, its part of a moss 2007 workflow. I am asked to limit the approve site permission to approve only and disable the edit capability. I wonder if there is a way to do this? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Eihab
