Making them text strings does not meet my business requirement. I have actually somewhat tried that using substring function and formatting accordingly, however as I mentioned, when I submit to SharePoint the date and time formats default back.

Re: Date and Time fields

I would be interested to read about any solution you reach. I believe SharePoint and InfoPath simply store dates in different formats. Perhaps you could make some of these date/time fields text strings?

Date and Time fields

I am working to take the infopath date and time formatted as '2009-10-07T13:08:21' to something more like '10-7-2009 1:08 PM' which will subsequently post back to a sharepoint list where I can perform calculation differences on various dates and times on a web enabled form.

The problem: In InfoPath now one cannot use one field to display both date and time unless you concat two different fields. However when you do so, those fields default to '2009-10-07 13:08:20' for example. Additionally, even with my individual fields that are formatted in InfoPath correctly for date as '10/7/2009' and time as '1:12:50 PM', when posted back to sharepoint, they default back to this format (for date 2009-10-07 and for time 13:08:20)

My question: How can I get Infopath time and date concatenated to be in this format '10/7/2009 10:49 AM' in one field and have it retain that format when posted back to SharePoint?

Note: currently in SharePoint I can use a calculated column to see the date/time difference on Create and Modify dates by using this function (=[Modify]-[Create]) which gives me a decimal number, which is what I want. Basically I am trying to do the same thing using infopath however am unable to retain the same date time format when publishing from infopath to sharepoint.
