try to set the fields as editable.

when you are publising the infopath form, you will come across a list of promoted properties list, select each individual field and click modify, in the modify pop up, you will get a check box at the bottom, that will say something like "Allow users to edit data in this field by using a datasheet or properties page", make sure it is checked. then publish on as usual .

Hope this resolves your problem

Re: 'Contains' filter on promoted field

Hi Qazi

Im still hanging on this one. Do you have any other ideas?

Sorry that I was unclear. No I want the dropdown in the sharepoint list so that a user can choose a branch and see a filtered list of the suppliers in their area. This could be done with a SharePoint List Filter webpart and somehow connect this to the supplier list with 'contains' in the connection query. Repeating tables fields that are promoted do not support native sharepoint filtering or connections. I'm a novice at best but I thought there may be a way to use the filter dropdown as a parameter referenced in the supplier list (sharepoint list of Infopath supplier forms) and then cange the CAML to filter appropriately or something of the like.

BTW Im using MOSS and sharepoint designer

Thanks

i am not sure do you want the drop down in the infopath form or on some sharepoint page.

If you want it in infopath form, you can open a data connection to get data on the field (promoted one)

then go to drop down properties, in listbox entries, select look up values from external data source,

select the data source (data connection you just made)

in the entries click the button next to the field, select the group, and use filter option to filter the data.

i guess this should take care of your problem

'Contains' filter on promoted field

Hi

I am using Infopath to manage subcontractor / supplier approval. this issue is that we have a number of branches and some of our subcontractors cover multiple branches. I have a repeating table (of drop downs) on the form called "branches" to indicate the branches where the subcontractor operates. This property is promoted to the sharepoint library and appears as a list of locations.

One of the requirements is that a branch can identify subcontractors in their area (ie where Branches includes their location). The way I am proposing to do this is to have a dropdown on the default SharePoint page and then somehow have some code that filters the list if the promoted Branches if they contain the text in the dropdaown.

Can someone help me make this work? - Is there a better way of doing this

TIA
