The problem was alleviated (hopefully--not all the evidence is in yet) by defining mime types in IIS on the SP server, so as to identify an .xml filetype with the Infopath application. Before making that IIS change, the user would get a Open/Save/Cancel dialog whenever they tried to open the form from an emailed link, and I believe that the same mechanism that opened the dialog was triggering Office Scan. Most of the time, this created no problem, but on some percentage of events, Office Scan would not release the file, or was contending with Infopath for the file, hence the freeze-ups.

Hope to confirm or deny this theory in the next few days, but in the meantime, things are looking up!

Re: Infopath 2007 freezes during open

The problem persists on my machine as well, though no user calls yet. I'm going to try a full re-installation of IE.

Re: Infopath 2007 freezes during open

Yesterday and today I was able to witness two more occurences in person. In the first case, while the form froze on launch, I was unable to find infopath running in the task list or in the process list. There was no process at all that seemed to be consuming memory or cpu. I eventually ended task on the browser and then was able to launch the form.

anyone found a solution for this problem. I have exactly the same issue.
The weired behaviour is that the same XML with the saml XSN opens without issues most of the time. When we open a xml which points to another similar template it just freezes in "Connecting the server for information" dialog.
