After you asked me how the file names are created, I noticed that the duplicated files have an extra space in the file name, so they are technically no duplicates after all. I looked at the properties of the files with the extra space and noticed that they are either created or edited by one particular user in the company. So I can assume that she uses an outdated version of the infopath form that has a slightly different naming convention. So it's not a creator vs. different editor case as I initially thought. I will track the user down after she's back from lunch, but I am pretty sure I have this resolved. Thanks for pointing me to reviewing the file name!

Re: Avoiding duplicates of forms on submit by different users

What method are you using to create the name for the form when it is submitted? Is it a unique file name?

Avoiding duplicates of forms on submit by different users

I have the following problem: I submit an InfoPath form to a Sharepoint library. I allow to overwrite the form. So, when I edit the form and re-submit, the form is overwritten correctly. However, if another user reviews the form, makes a change, and re-submits, the form is added as a duplicate of the original form into the library. What can I do to have the original form also be overwritten when a user other than the creator re-submits the form? Any help is greatly appreciated.
