Have you tried associating that site column with the content types of the library? Also, using a simple SharePoint Designer workflow may help populate that column as well.

Adding data to an existing SharePoint site column from InfoPath form

Hi,

I have a InfoPath 2007 form as a site content type in a WSS 3.0 document library. The form has a number of promoted columns and the document library has multiple content types and some custom lookup site columns which need to be used by all the multiple content types. I need the form to add data, not only to the promoted columns, but also to the custom lookup site columns when the form is saved back to the document library. The method that I have used so far is to use a promoted column when publishing the form to the WSS site, but linked to the custom site column, this is excepted OK but the column never gets populated in the doc library?

It will work only if the site column is simple text and is not associated to all content types in the doc library, in my case I need the site column to be lookup or choice and used by all content types within the doc library.

Any suggestions in how to achieve this?

Thanks.

Kevin.
