I looked into the method you mentioned above and it appears it is only a function available in InfoPath 2007 - a problem since we are running 2003.

Shiva - This method looks promising, however, when I try to set up the Data Connection using 'GetUserCollection' I am prompted for a sample value under 'ns1:userLoginNamesXml'. Is there any way to avoid having to define a sample value? What does this sample value accomplish? From trying to use this connection with a sample value in place, it seems to only see and find that sample value in the connection.

I really appreciate both of you guys' help! Let me know what you think can be done!

Re: Look up a SharePoint User Name

Hello,

Here is the web service link to get the user collection from SharePoint,

It will returns the user list available in SharePoint.

Re: Look up a SharePoint User Name

Hi,

You want to show username as sharepoint equivalent, right?

If so you can use contact selector control for that, instead of using textbox. It will directly give you the sharepoint username when user enters username.

Take a look at this article. It will tell you how to use contact selector control.

http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/02/28/using-the-contact-selector-control.aspx

Hope this helps.

Re: Look up a SharePoint User Name

Jo-Anne,

I appreciate your willingness to help! While the article above speaks to the ability to pull the active user's information, I would like to search through the list of all registered users on the site. Is the method similar? Is there any way to pull that list item's information to query and search through?

Thanks again!

Re: Look up a SharePoint User Name

Hello and welcome to our forums!

I am fairly new to InfoPath and SharePoint development, so please bear with me as I try solve a potential problem. I have a couple text fields on my form where a user can input a user name. I would like to convert this user's name into its SharePoint equivalent. While I have seen Greg Collin's post - his post describes how to provide such an information in a drop down. I would like to see the text entered to perform a query or search that would produce the SharePoint User Name equivalent.

Is this something that is possible? This is being done in InfoPath 2003 and SharePoint 2003.
