Repeating fields we selected as merge option in Promoted properties then we should not get the sort option in SharePoint. Soring option is not available for merge fields in SharePoint.

Sort Merged Column in SharePoint

I think that I know the answer to this, but I would like someone to prove me wrong. I have a form with many repeating tables that have fields that I am promoting to a SP view. Since the fields are in repeating tables, I have to use 'merge' during promotion in order to get all instances of that filed to display. The problem is that I need to be able to sort those items that have been merged. From what I have read, that is not possible.

I have tried a variety of solutions but untimatley none of them worked. The most promising was to create a field that contained a unique value for each instance of the data that I wanted to sort on and promote it, but I still have to merge the sort data in order for it to show. Back to square one. If anyone can impart some wisdom, that would be fantastic.
