How do I pass an infopath form around in a workflow, same form, same values, different steps

Hi,

I have a workflow where different people will fill out different parts of an infopath form, or change values (basically I just want the same infopath form to display with values filled in).

I am writing my workflow in visual studio. I create a task and can pop up a similar form, and even fill in values from the original list, but I don't think that is the correct way to accomplish my task. Basically I can read the list via code, but I don't want to have to promote each infopath field do I? I think this seems unneccessary. I would just like to display the same form. (I will add code later to disable some fields) How do I do this? I tried using an ItemMetadata.xml file, but that seems to only work with list values that I saved as edtended properties.
