A lot of people want to be able to store relational or hyarchical date in SharePoint, however as you have seen, SharePoint does not have a way to do this. SharePoint is built on a flat data structure to optimize it for browsing and navigation, and it works for light weight storage and simple lists. For more complex data structure and layouts it does not do so well. If you need more than that then the best option is to switch to a database server (SQL) since it is designed for such data. SQL has the perofrmance and structure to handle large volumes of forms 2K+, and relational data.

If you would like to see an example you can contact me directly.

Otherwise you are stuck building another list to show the repeating data but then there is not a relationship.

Add SharePoint list item thru web-service

Hi,I’m pretty new with InfoPath 2007 and I have a problem which I can’t get solved. I did research on the internet and I read some books. I have a InfoPath form with a Multiple-Selection List Box. I use a data connection to put data into the List Box, this data comes from a SharePoint list. It all works fine and I use the ID as value. I use the web-service (http://sharepoint/_vti_bin/lists.asmx) to put data back into an SharePoint list (other list then before). All other fields are pushed into the list except the data from the Multiple-Selection List Box. If I just select one value from the List Box it is pushed into the SharePoint list.
I think the problem is the field type in SharePoint, it’s a lookup field. I need this type of field because the user must have the ability to select multiple values. Is there a solution for this problem? Thanks and Regards,
