Not easily since InfoPath needs to be opened and then submited again to change a value within it. This can be done via a seperate process but their is nothing built into Sharepoint to automate this. You may want to look at the Database Accelerator, Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer it includes a taskpane template which has assignment and approval workflow built in that does what you describe by having one Infopath form catalog where a staff person could view, browse, and approve documents without leaving InfoPath. It includes email notification and email alerts if a document is overdue or does not get approved within the set time period. I have done similar approval processes for HR type applications where who can approve and document security is important too.

If you would like a demonstration let me know.

Updating a field on SharePoint form library or on InfoPath form

Hello.

I've developed an InfoPath form for work requests. A user would submit a request with the InfoPath form and then support staff would begin work on the request. There is a field on the form called status which lists where the job is in terms of completion. The support staff have asked whether they could be able to update this field in SharePoint instead of having to open the form each time they need to change it. Because I have brought the field over from InfoPath I cannot change the field in SharePoint. I tried to make a new field in SharePoint and pick it up on the form but no information came over.

Is it possible to populate a field on a form and update it on a form library?

Thanks!
Suzanne
