When creating the data connection I am prompt to supply a roleName which I set to Approver, which is the name of my site group. However, absolutely no data appear, I tried other methods which I need to supply a parameter value for and none of them is working. The methods that require no input such as GetUserCollectionFromWeb is working just fine. Am I doing it wrong?? My visual studio project is an infoPath Form Template, I guess it's not possible to consume a web service directly from code.

Helena

Re: Import SharePoint users to InfoPath

Hi Helena,

You can use the Users and Groups web service provided by SharePoint to accomplish this. Establish a secondary data connection to one of the web service methods, and you should be able to enumerate whatever you need!

Here's an online version of the SharePoint SDK, but I would suggest you download the entire thing: http://usingsharepoint.com/SharePointSDK/soapcUserGroup_SV01034392.htm

Import SharePoint users to InfoPath

Hi!

I have seen several posts about this topic, but not quite managed to get it to work. I need to fill a dropdown lists in my infopath 2007 form with users from SharePoint 2003. For example, I have an Approver dropdown which I want to fill with users from the Approver Site Group. In SharePoint I whish to apply a filter so I only see the documents where I am the Approver.

This site explains quite nice how to fill a dropdown, but here all users for a site is collected, and I want only users from a certain site group.

http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/greg/archive/2005/09/08/Use-the-SharePoint-_27005B00_Me_5D002700_-Filter-with-a-Promoted-Property.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage

Also, I still get

<!-- #RENDER FAILED --> in SharePoint when trying to filter by [Me] for the values I have set in the dropdown. I have experimented with importing users from a Contact Lists instead, I then can create a Contact List for each group I need. But I guess it is not possible to use [Me] filtering when the user is a list contact and not a user in a site group?

Regards, Helena
