Hi Ted,

I have a similar issue. I have e IP2003 template uploaded in MOSS (aslo known as SharePoint 2007) in a document library. I have a number of forms which are linked to this library. So my problem rised when opening the forms. Sometimes, they are opened ar [read-only] when I open them directly from the library. It even ask me if I want to open it or save it. It should open the form not as read only - as I understand it it happens that the form is opened as web-enabled form. I have explicitly selected in SharePoint "open in user's application". Furthermore we have email notficitation, which have a link to the form in their body. Using this link a user can open the form and it always works properly - the form is opened in the application and when someone other has opened it, it prompts a window informing that it can be opened as read only, which is normal. The other thing which bothers me is that the when this "SOMETIMES" happens, the form is still active, i can alter it, save it, submit it... it just doesnt work correct! if read only I should not be able to do this. I just cannot find any logic. If someone has any Idea or has experienced such behaviour, can he/she please share his solution or suggestion to the problem

I have seen an issue with SharePoint 2007 where an a %25%20 got inserted into the template URL in all forms in a library instead of %20 (there was a space in the URL of the library and it should have been %20 only). This appeared to happen when files were moved into the libary and re-linking in SharePoint did not work properly.

The interesting thing was that we had the same issue with some users being able to open the same form fine and others could ony open the same form in Read only. Turns out that the users who could open the form were using InfoPath 2003 and the users who could not open the form were using InfoPath 2007.

The issue was fixed by relinking all forms.

Not sure if that will help in your situation but thought I would mention it.

We have an infopath form(Infopath 2003) published to a share point forms library( SPS 2007). For what ever reason whe we try to open the xmls that are in the forms library using the url in Internet explorer the title bar says [Read-Only] and Document.ReadOnly is set to true. However opening the xml from the form library itself opens without any issues. This is inconsistent and some times the document opens properly. Any idea what would cause this kind of issue?
