I ended up changing the Submit to do a SaveAs to get around the issue. Unfortunately the file name needs to be generated from the user's particular data selections (e.g Meeting Title & date-time of meeting). I also added a call to a web service to search the libray for duplicate titles.

Thanks again.

Re: Submitting Form to SharePoint / Save - Refresh?

Hello again,

One work around I can assume is You can generate the file name and the path into a field on the Form and use this on Save functionality. To skip creating Duplicate forms you can use the field values like Date Time etc from the form.

I am not sure how it will help you.

Re: Submitting Form to SharePoint / Save - Refresh?

Hello ,
Yes this is correct. Since even if you try to just save the form without submitting, you need to give a form name and location to save.
Did you try to save the from first before Submit.
Submitting Form to SharePoint / Save - Refresh?

When a user fills out a form I have a submit button on the form which successfully submits the form to a SharePoint library using a dataconnection submit as suggested on MSDN. After the user submits the form, I switch to a different view in the form. I have on the second view a save button. However if I keep the form open and make changes after I submit it and try to save the form it fails with the error "The form does not have a file name." If I close the form and reopen the form from the SharePoint library the save button works.

I am being told by a tech at MS that even though a form has already been submitted to SharePoint, InfoPath will not have the submitted information yet. As it doesn#%92t refresh the form. For this to work, you have to close the form after submitting it and then open it again from the SharePoint form library and then try saving the form. Or, instead of Save use the SaveAs option.

Is this correct? Is so, is there a work around. This will add more coding to application, because I will then have to search the library to make sure that there isn't a duplicat file. This duplicat file check is a built in option using the InfoPath Dataconnection submit.
