Another field would need to be added to display the value. You would want to set it based on the change in the dropdown. If the value is not needed in the form, you may be better off using a secondary data source for the dropdown field, and setting the field in the main data source to the display name value.

Is it possible to display the Drop-Down List "Display Name" value in the SharePoint form Library list and not the "Value"?

I would rather not create another field if it can be helped?

Using IP 2010 and SP 2010
