Unable to update Sharepoint list using updatelistitems in caml query

Extacting attachments from a Sharepoint item

I know that there is a way to extract the Attachments to an item in a SharePoint list using Power Automate. Can something similar be done w/ items from a SharePoint XML forms library? I've gotten as far as extracting the base64 encoded contents of my attachment fields, but am unclear as to how to get back both the original file contents and its filename (I'm really only interested in the filename extension, but assume there is no direct way to get just that, and I can extract the extension from the full filename). Is there anything in FormsViewer that will facilitate (or impede) this? We're currently using an InfoPath form, but the intention is to convert it to FormsViewer.

Migrate infopath form to another identical list in sharepoint

Hi all. Thank you in advance. I have a list which has a custom form made in Infopath and for maintenance reasons, it is necessary to migrate this form to another list. The destination list was generated through the Sharepoint template and is identical to the source list, but when the form is loaded, only the native Sharepoint form appears and not the infopath form or its workflows. Please, can you guide me on how I can migrate the form to the new list and, if possible, also the workflows? Please excuse my lack of experience on this topic. Thank you.

Multiple line of text column with rich text always triggers column change when Infopath form saved

I have an issue with Sharepoint list in combination with field of type "multiple lines of text" with enabled rich text and Infopath form. Data are edited through the linked Infopath form. When the multiline field is empty, it is just fine. But once I put any value to this field, it always triggers column changed when the form is saved. This happens every time I save the Infopath form. If I edit directly in grid view of the list, no change. This is visible in Version History, every save is there as a value change. It also triggers me Power Automate flows linked to column value changes. I even do not have this field directly placed in the Infopath form, just that it exists in the list and have some value, it always triggers column changed. Can somebody help? Thank you.

Failing to execute InfoPath Automation

I've migrated from SharePoint 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 to SharePoint 2016 on Windows Server 2019(!!!) Datacenter (Desktop Experience). On Win2012 Server I had an exe file (written in C#) doing InfoPath Automation successfully. This exe file is activated from SP Custom WF activity as a separate process with the same Credentials that run the Application Pool running the SharePoint Web Application. InfoPath 2013 is installed on the server (both for Win2012 server and Win2019 server). The InfoPath Automation creates a new document (using the NewFromSolution method) based on InfoPath template stored within SharePoint Forms Library. When migrated to Windows Server 2019 that exe file works successfully ONLY when activated manually - i.e. by clicking on it within the Windows File Explorer, while being logged in with the same credentials mentioned above. When activated by Custom WF activity, or by SP Event-Receiver (yes, I've tried also Event-Receiver for the sake of trying to pinpoint the cause of the problem) - that exe file always fails on the InfoPath Automation for creating a new document - i.e. it always fails on the NewFromSolution method. I've tried for NewFromSolution method either InfoPath template stored within SharePoint Forms Library, and a templated stored within the Server's local disk. When setting credentials for the created process (as described above) it fails: InfoPath cannot open a new form. The form cannot be opened .To fix this problem ,contact the form designer... InfoPath cannot open a new form. To open the file, access to the following form template is required... When no credentials are set for the created process (i.e. the created process runs under its parent's credentials) it fails: InfoPath cannot open a new form. The form cannot be opened .To fix this problem ,contact the form designer... The form template: ... Access is denied. Please advise / help. Thanks

Can't convert data connection to data connection file in SharePoint 2013

I was going to post a question... but now I'm preemptively posting an answer for anyone who runs into this situation.

I made a new form in SharePoint 2013 with a userprofile data lookup, and wanted to convert said lookup to a data connection file in a data connection library.

when I attempted to do the convert, InfoPath 2013 says "the specified location is not a data connection library. Choose a data connection library on a server running Microsoft SharePoint Server and specify a valid filename"

I was doing my test with InfoPath running on the test server... so all work is being done on that one server box.

This rung a bell to me as "something that doesn't work when you are building stuff while actually on the server you're talking to"

I realized I had InfoPath 2013 on my personal computer, so I quick tried to do this from there... and the convert worked.

I found an article that basically says to do your work on the server, you need to turn on the "Desktop Experience" on the server you're working on.

I'm going to try that now...but pretty sure that's a fix I remember doing before.

Again...just a note for those who may run into the same issue.

Cannot get Infopath Form Template to download or open InfoPath

I have a SP2013 Site that has an Infopath Form Library on it. I need to make a change to this form that I have inherited. I have turned off Content Types so I am able to click on "Edit Template", but when I do it says "Sorry, we couldn't open "http://sharepointsitename/operation/AuditTracklng/Forms/template.xsn." We have all of our services turned on. I inherited this form and doc library and was told by mgmt that the domain had changed from when we acquired this other company. So, the form itself still works on the site but I can't find a way to EDIT the template. I have searched and can't find any answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Save doc attachment Infopath to document Library SharePoint

I would like to save an attachment contained in an Infopath form to a SharePoint document library. If possible, I would like to do this without code. I managed to perform these operations for images, with the web application "imaging.asmx" but I did not succeed for another type of document. Can you give me a solution? How to switch from current form/list to a different form/list based on user input

I have an Issue Tracking form that submits to a single list, "ISSUE TRACKING". I would like to add a new page to this form, "REQUEST TYPE", where if the user selects the "ISSUE" button it will switch view to the Issue Tracking form. If the user selects the " NEW FUNCTIONALITY" button I would prefer that it launches the "NEW FUNCTIONALITY" form that will submit to a different list. There is no action within the rules that will accommodate this type of activity. I created a Picture of a Button with "NEW FUNCTIONALITY" with a hyperlink that will launch the "NEW FUNCTIONALITY" form in a new window. However, it will not close the current form, as a button rule would. I am unable to "cover" a button with the "NEW FUNCTIONALITY" pic/link. This would allow me to launch the new window as well as close the current form via the button rules. Any ideas on how to solve launching the NEW FUNCTIONALITY and closing the current form with one click?

Cannot submit infopath with Edit permission

Hi All, I have a Infopath 2013 form on my Sharepoint list. User has edit permissions on the list but cannot submit Infopath form. I tried submitting item without infopath form and it works. There are no rules in the infopath form, still I am unable to submit it with edit permission. Thanks for your help.

Strange problem with date fields and editing in datasheet view

I have a series of forms that have a number of promoted fields in a SharePoint list. Most of the promoted fields are editable from within SharePoint as well.

Recently, I've been noticing a discrepency between date fields as they appear in the SharePoint list and the form itself. It seems that the forms are sometimes one day earlier than the forms. After looking at the forms that are exhibiting this odd behavior, I was able to figure out that when any item is updated in the list view of the library, the next time the form is opened, the date fields are all set back to the prior day (It's actually 4 hours earlier - the date fields are set for 12:00 AM and when I open the form in IP, it shows them on the previous day at 8:00PM). I don't understand what's going on. Further, when I attempt to modify any date fields from datasheet view, it says that they cannot be edited because the file is checked out. Other fields, however, can be edited and save just fine.

It appears that this is happening with multiple forms. There are no rules set on the date fields or the fields that are being modified from the list view (and even if there were, the rules shouldn't run, or so I've been brought to understand). The format of the fields in both the form and the library are both date and time. I must be missing something simple...or at least I hope I am.

Any ideas?

Creating a search and edit form

I apologize if this was asked and answered previously as I was not able to find what I was looking for. I need to create an environment where the end user is not able to access the sharepoint list. To do this, I am using a blank web part page to connect to an infopath form. What I would like to do is have the default view either have a drop down list box or a search box to act as a record selector for the sharepoint list as the main use for this form will be to edit data in the sharepoint list. I would like to have another view so they could add a new item to the sharepoint list and enter the necessary data for the new entry. Since I have been having difficulty accomplishing this task, I thought I would ask here to see if this is even possible with infopath and if so, how.

Cascading Information Across Forms and SharePoint Lists

This may cover a couple topics, but I'm not sure of the language to describe what I'm looking to do to search. I have a form (Form A) that was built on a SharePoint List (SharePoint List A). When submitted, the information is logged in SharePoint List A. I have a second form (form B) that I would like to have use responses submitted to SharePoint List A to populate this form (form B) (and thus a SharePoint List B). For example, form A has an ID # associated with it. I am able to query that ID # from SharePoint List A to populate a drop down in form B, but I am not able to use that drop down selection as a filter for other fields later in form B. Do I need to create an intermediary list that creates "linked" fields (like a cascading drop down)? If so, how do I do this when data is going to be consistently added to SharePoint List A via submitted form As? Ultimately, I am trying to reduce entering the same data across forms that happen in succession by porting in submitted information from form A into form B via filtering.

Hide Section or View based on User being in a SharePoint group or an Active Directory Group within a SharePoint group

Content-type template is not updating when republished with changes.

I successfully added a new content-type to a form library and reassigned the existing items in the library to the new content type and made the new content type the default template in the library. All library items open correctly and even got the site columns I created to populate. I updated the template then republished the content-type however the changes I made to the template are not reflected in the items when re-opened. I republished the template the long way (File > Publish) a zillion times and no change. I also deleted the content-type from SharePoint library and Site content types, renamed the template, published again and hooked it all u again but the old template is still opening with the items in the library.

Is there a step I missed to connect a content type to the template? I've allowed management of content types

Is there a cache somewhere I need to clear?

How best to present multiple multi select choices based on a number of other fields data

Hi InfoPathdev community! Hopefully someone has had similar use case to this and point me in the right direction. I have a service request process with the data stored in a sharepoint list and data entered via Infopath form on the sharepoint site (they have infopath 2013). The service request "case" can have multiple requests in it based on Service Line and Scenario, we allow them to enter 6 requests. Example Request 1 Service Line 1 = Transaction Queries Scenario 1 = One Payment - Additional Info Request 2 Service Line 2 = Transaction Queries Scenario 2 = One Payment - No Additional Info Request 3 Service Line 3 = Payments on Hold Scenario 3 = Email to Customer Request 4 Service Line 4 = Direct Debits Scenario 4 = Cancellation Request There are 25 Service Lines all with 5-10 Scenarios which I have configured using a sharepoint data connection with cascading dropdowns and works nicely (thanks to this forum!) Last part of this is that they want the ability to QA how the request was dealt with by an offshore team, so per service line they have defined multiple error scenarios that they want to rectify, these are multi select. So what I want to do is in a QA view in the form present them with one instance of the Service Lines errors multi select fields based on the Service Lines selected in the main requests. Example as per above , there was 4 requests but only 3 Service Lines, so I want to present the Error fields multi select boxes now for the 3 Service Lines.. E.G Service Line = Transaction Queries Errors = Incorrect Template , Incorrect info provided, No Follow Up and all 3 could apply or just 1 or 2 etc i.e. multi choice select and this would cover the 2 requests made There is probably a crude way to do it which I'm trying to avoid as I will need multiple extra fields with tons of sections to hide I would imagine! Any help here on a good approach appreciated. Thanks Mark

Phone Number Not Updating

I have an InfoPath Form, and I have a text box that populates with the submitters phone number, as they open the form from their Web Browser. A number of fields auto populate when a customer opens the form, (email, phone number and title). These fields auto populate from a Data Connection. Yet, after the form is submitted and added to a SharePoint Library, the SharePoint column for the phone number always populates with my phone number (Site Content Manager / Administrator) and editor of this InfoPath Form. The Phone Text Box properties is Value[Name = "WorkPhone"] - Required Field. Also, if it helps anyone, I did notice I have the box checked in the test box prosperities, that says " Refresh value when formula is recalculated". I am not sure if this is related or not. Finally, I am just wondering if I should just change this text box (phone) to a freeform text box and make the customer fill it out, instead of prepopulating it with a Data Connection it? Thoughts anyone?

Area/Fields are erroneously underlined

I have something really weird going on. I created a new InfoPath form. My field label is being underlined. I then deleted the field label and the area is still being underlined. I have checked to make sure there are no Borders and there are none. Thanks in advance for help. Tried to search but search terms of underline on fields only shows items related to adding borders which this is not the case. LOL

File does not have a Preview - form not loaded

We are experiencing a new problem with a forms library hosted on SharePoint online. My colleagues are able to open the infopath form (in the browser) when creating a new entry however when then navigate to the XML forms library and try and open the new submission SharePoint is giving an message "mmmm.... looks like this file doesn't have a preview we can show you" then presents two options to open or download. Previously (a week ago) double clicking on an item would launch the form. Once you click the "open" the form is loaded with the correct detail but when the colleague clicks on close the form the browser returns a screen of XML data which I assume is the form data. I suspect that our friends in Microsoft may have changed the default behavior in a xml list to present a preview rather than just opening the required item. If anyone has any ideas on a resolution please share as this is impacting all of my forms libraries :-(

Single column in SharePoint list to populate drop down list in InfoPath form?

Hello - first post here and new to InfoPath...

I'm looking for ideas with examples on how to populate a drop down list field on my InfoPath 2013 form from a single line of text column in a SharePoint 2013 list when another text column in that row contains the word "List"? The columns with these values are in the same row. I have a data connection (secondary) to the SharePoint list set up and the text column contains "A;B;C;D;E" (for this example, to keep it simple). The delimiter for the choices is the semi-colon.

So, in the SharePoint list I have
single line of text named Value1 containing "A;B;C;D;E"
single line of text named Field_Type1 containing "List"

I would like to populate the drop down list on my InfoPath form to have the choices:
A
B
C
D
E

My thoughts are to somehow populate a repeating field (that the user won't see) in the form's main schema from the list's values and then use the repeating field to populate the drop down list. Is this possible? I am using a Form Library and I can use VB code behind if it can't be done in rules only, or is much simpler in code.

Autopopulate text field based on sharepoint list lookup

I have a field named NTAG It is a lookup field from a list Called NTAG Lookup. This list has 3 columns: NTAG | TAOC | REGION Now I already have a data connection set up for that list as there is a dropdown for NTAG and a cascading dropdown for TAOC. I also have another lookup list called Region Lookup. It has 2 columns: NTAG | REGION What I would like to do is have a text field that auto-populates the REGION based on the selection of the NTAG. I have tried multiple things searching google and YouTube and nothing I have found works. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I created the second lookup list in case it was an issue of having multiple entries of an NTAG in the first list. i.e.

Dropdown list using column options?

Is there a way to use the options listed in the sharepoint list column settings, to populate a dropdown list on an InfoPath form? In sharepoint, the list has a column called "classification" and in the list settings, the column type "Text" is set with options "top, medium, lower". I have a "submit" data connection from the InfoPath form to the SharePoint list. When I add a field from the field list (data or query) as a drop down on the form, the drop down is not populated with the options from the list. If this is not doable, then how else might it be implemented? Thanks

So i have an infopath form published on sharepoint. Initially the form can be opened, filled and then submitted. However when someone goes in to edit the form, it doesn't load. It gives the following message: Click Try again to attempt to load the form again. If this error persists, contact the support team for the Web site. It provides a correlation Id

Populating Field Based on Match to Another List

This is one of those times where, I am sure that I am missing some obvious glaring answer and it's just because its the end of the week but... I'm at my wits end and hoping someone in this wonderful community can help. I have a form attached to a SharePoint list. When items are entered into that list (a process outside of the InfoPath form), there is a field called "business" into which an abbreviation is entered. That abbreviation is strictly to control where that list item will appear in a specialized web part page that filters based on it. I don't want users to see that abbreviation as it causes confusion. I would like them to see the non-abbreviated version of the business on the form instead. I have a second simple list that is the abbreviations in one column, and their associated business name in another. What I am trying to do is have it so that when someone opens an item, and they are presented with the InfoPath form in doing so, the matched full business name appears on the form, rather than the abbreviation that was actually entered. Here's a more simplistic breakdown: Item entered into List #1 with ABC in the "business field." I want to call to List #2, which is a full list of all abbreviations with a 2nd column that defines them, have it match that abbreviation to the full business name, and display "Another Business Center" on the form instead of ABC. I've been trying to figure this one out for 2 days and would love any help someone can offer. I am sure its as simple as building the control for the field properly but having it match what was already entered is something I am struggling with. Thanks in advance!

Problems having moved form to new Domain - SharePoint 2016 (on prem)

Hi,

Our environment has gone through radical changes. Our company has been sold and we have new domains/tenants/SharePoint Farms.

I have moved a form to the new farm, updated the data connections and re-published it is opening with correlation errors.

The error is

"You do not have permissions to access a SharePoint list that contains data required for this form to function correctly.

An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.

Log ID:5566

Correlation ID:4945a09f-5161-1046-81ee-ac87ab886de1 "

I have looked at the event log for the server and there appear to be a couple of types of error

string7 DataAdapterException
string8 Unable to connect to the remote server Unable to connect to the remote server

And

string8 The form cannot run the specified query. The list could not be found.

I have attached an extract from the ULS logs which contain that correlation id and the Form.

When we moved the data to the new SharePoint Farm, the version of the farm was identical, and we were able to move the whole DB so guids "SHOULD" have remained the same.
I have been through the whole InfoPathform and changed the url to the new correct URL. (I have tried to double check using the manifest and source files)

I am still getting the error, so I guess I have missed something. How can I find which list/s I am getting the error on.
