Not sure if this can work while code is running but an idea.

I use this in browser forms since their are no message boxes.

Use a section or text field which is hidden most of the time. I often will make it in red or soemthing that will draw their attention to it. Also put it clode to the submit button.

But unhide it and then rehide it again. Create a field in your form called hide. Default it to true. Make the section conditionaly hide when the hide field is true. When the user clicks set hide to false. At the end set hide back to true.

I think this could work if the form will refresh while the code is running. Should be simple to test for you.

What is the best way to give a message to the user while code is running ?

Hi

I am using InfoPath 2007 and VB. My programming knowledge is limited.

I am running some code which may take some time (sending attached files to SharePoint there could be as many as 20 different files) and I would like to display a message something like "This process may take some time, please wait...". I don't want to use a message box which requires user intervention.

I would like to 'publish' the message when my code starts... and 'unpublish'/remove it when my code has finished.

I had hoped I could switch view to a view displaying the message and then switch back afterwards - but after reading http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/7655/28007.aspx#28007 it doesn't look like that is feasible.

This code is part of the submit process and can be triggered from any of my other (7+) views.

Thank you

Catharine
