Are you asking "how we bind the text from a secondary data source to the main DOM"? Or, are you asking "how do we set default data using template.xml"? These are different questions.

For the first: you can bind a dropdown to your main DOM (data source) and specify a secondary data source for lookup.

For the second: you can edit the default sample data from within the designer. Go to Tools->Form Options->General->Edit Default Values.

Hope this helps!
Patrick

PS> for your signature, you should probably change "Think it" to "Think about it" but sounds a little threatening if you ask me.

PPS> for my signature, I'd say something like "life is short, don't forget to inhale" :)

Re: Bind secondary data source to primary data source

Hi. I'm not sure I understand your question... what exactly are you trying to do?

It sounds like you have a secondary data source that the user enters values into, and you want those values to be in the main data source so that you can send the form (with those values included) via email to someone.

If this is the case, you need to have some fields in the main data source where these values can go.

If you need to have these fields in the main data source, then why are they now in a secondary data source?

Greg Collins [InfoPath MVP]

Bind secondary data source to primary data source

Hi,

I have seen all the example that you have made but he has one things that I don't understand.
