There might be some crazy trickery that might allow it but I think it would require installing ASP.NET compiler on each machine that wishes to run the code and this is very far from desirable.

Thanks for the link to the article!

Task Panes and Managed code

I got pulled in to look at someone InfoPath problems and wanted to get some insight.

First, the guy is having some performance issues with the loading of his taskpane when it is first opened. We think we narrowed it down to the numerous calls he is making between the taskpane and the infopath form when the form is first loaded. He has a form that is in C# and making many jscript calls back and forth. Is it possible to experience a performance hit if you are making many calls from managed to un-managed code calls?

I did mention that if that is the case, he should probably refactor is loading logic to only call between the form and the taskpane once on load.

Second, I found this article a while back which supposedly showed how to embed a asp.net page in the taskpane, but it is really not doing that http://www.developer.com/net/article.php/10916_3082431_2). It is just referencing an ASP.net page - nothing more. Is it possible to place managed code in a task pane and then be able to make calls from the infopath form to the taskpane and vice versa? The goal is to get rid of jscripting in the taskpane all together.
