In the future, please post these questions in the Premium Donwloads section for faster response.

If you bound the form to AD Web service, and you are calling it on load (check the data connection settings) then you already have a secondary data source which gets set to the current user.

Go to data source in the task pane. Click on the drop down and select the AD Web service. Now, expand the nodes to get the username and drag that to your view. You can use rules to set a value into your main data source as needed from this, or to check the user name.

access value from secondary data source dom in vb

Hi, I have an Infopath form that is tied to a sqlserver database for the primary data source.

I also have the AD web service from infopathdev.

I would like to get a value from the AD web service without having it tied to a text box.

the reason I need this is I want to know who is logged on in order to approve the form. If I use a text box, it stores the original creator but is not updated for the current user (approver).

I can't seem to find many code examples of accessing a value from any secondary data source.

If anyone has the syntax/example of this in vb.net I would appreciate it.
