Kindly download the form I am attaching and open it in design mode (right click > select Design), check the action rule on field1 which sets field2 to XYZ on the condition that field1 begins with "A". Hope this helps.

Regards,

Help with conditional function

Hello,

I'm brand new to InfoPath.
I've got a text box in which I need custom values returned based on the value in the box next to it. To elaborate:
The user will fill out Box1 with an account number, this account number will start with an alpha prefix and then contain several numbers. I need Box2 to return a custom value IF the alpha prefix in Box1 equals (A, B, C...) I had hoped that Infopath might function similarly to Excel to where I could use =IF(), but web searching has lead me to believe it is more complicated than that. I watched a few tutorial videos but wasn't able to extract the solution I'm looking for.

So to summarize, here's what I'm looking for:

If Box1 begins with "A", then in Box2 display "ABC", If Box1 begins with "B", then Box2 display "XYZ", and so on and so forth for nine different alpha prefixes.

Does this make sense? Is it doable?

I appreciate the help!
