That's what I figured, I was just hoping to save it to the original location. No problem though, all just give everyone permissions to the folder where the XML file gets saved.

Thanks again for the quick reply

Re: XML datasource for dropdown list

Hi efrancis222013,

At the Resource Files under the Data tab of you InfoPath form, Export the XML file to your local machine.

Data → Resource Files → Export XML

Once exported, edit the file using a text editor such as notepad by manually entering values. After configuring, update your data connection by using the new XML file from your local machine. Hope this helps.

Regards,

XML datasource for dropdown list

Hi,

I've been using Infopath for a year now and I've never used XML files for datasouces. I was asked to update a dropdown list in a form template that had been created by someone else a few years ago. I thought I could simply go to the dropdown field properties to find where the XML file was saved, but I'm not having any luck.

Here is what appears in the dropdown list properties box as the entries source

/xml/Locations/Location[@Program = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:Incidents/@Program]

There is a dropdown field in the form named program and it's list options are stored in the form, i.e. were mannually entered

Does anyone have ideas as to how I can update the xml list? Thanks!
