You'll want to use OData to query the SharePoint library/list when any of the concate fields change. Add conditional formatting actions (rules) to a section to show it if the secondary data source of your OData query has fields that are non-blank. In other words, conditionally display a section with warning text and conditionally hide the submit button. The condition is whether the OData query returned anything.

You'll want to execute this again on Submit and fail the submit if results exist - since there could be race conditions with two people submitting simultaneously.

For more on OData, search this site. Also, Channel 9 at Microsoft should have a video Hilary did regarding OData, or you can just email her directly if you need more help.

I'm using SharePoint 2010 and Infopath 2010. One of my requirements is to prevent the double submit of the same data. The solution must be developed without using code on the backend. I have a Directorate, Division, Program, Component and Cost field. I thinking I have to concatenate all these fields and submit them to a list each time and compare them again before I submit them to the list with the concatenated fields that already in the list. It could be a hundred or a thousand. The question is how do I compare a concatenated field before submitting it to the list with concatented fields already in the list through a recieve data conection, so that the user is warned before double submitting.

Thanks,

Mike
