have end users open the csv in Excel and copy the table into a table in InfoPath - columns and rows must match for this to work

This actually sounds like the most doable for my end users but not sure how it is done. It cant be as simple as copy and paste can it?

This is a frequent requirement. Some ideas:

push the vendor's data into a SQL table and add a data connection to your form that pulls data into it using a Web Service that filters based on the user

use an XML schema in Excel and export the CSV as XML locally. add an import XSLT to your XSN for that XSD and have the users choose File->Merge to import the data

have end users open the csv in Excel and copy the table into a table in InfoPath - columns and rows must match for this to work

open data in Excel and copy data to a SharePoint data grid (columns must match but SharePoint will insert rows) and define a data connection that pulls data into your form. Requires SharePoint and some server filtering (qRules has FilterOwssvr)

We have done all of these and I would go with the first or second bullet. If you need specific help, go to Qdabra.com and buy a support pack and we can assign a developer to assist you.

Importing data into a repeating table - question

I have developed an internal expense form that fits our organization and its needs. It uses a repeating table for the required fields with the data ultimately stored in a SQL table.

One of the company credit card vendors provides the individual users with download cabability for their statement.

Is there any practical way for an end user to use a csv file to import data into a repeating table on an IP 2007 form? I am thinking of some kind of secondary data source but the file location and even the file name will be different for all end users.

Not every required field is in the file so there will need to be some user intervention for cost coding.

Thanks for any ideas.
