I was able to pull manager details also by using the getuserprofilebyname web service in sharepoint.

Create a new Data Connection (Tools->Data Connections->Add->Web Service->Receive->To a Web Service-> http://<Sharepoint server>/_vti_bin/userprofileservice.asmx?wsdl)

This article is a classic, should help a bit in understanding too:

http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/itaysk/archive/2007/04/05/InfoPath-_2D00_-Get-the-current-user-without-writing-code.aspx

Hope this helps.

Sure, you can do this with two queries. Qdabra Software (company that pays for this free site) sells an Active Directory Web Service that you can use to get this. Just call it once with current user. Then, call it again with manager. There's even a free version available as part of the DBXL trial. Both ADWS and DBXL are inexpensive, packed with other useful features, and are guaranteed to save you "loads" of time or else you get your money back. :)

Or, you can write your own code to do it. There are a lot of examples on the web and even in this forum. Search is your friend. Happy trails!

managers detail on form loading

hello there
