It's not totally dynamic like Qdabra's DBXL. Anyway, if you don't have any budget, you can try to add code on your own. You will need to do "Admin Deploy" of the form to Forms Services. It's a little tricky but not too bad. SharePoint 2010 removes the need to admin deploy for forms with code. Search for "Admin Deploy" and you may find a blog on it.

We'd be happy to help you write and debug the code, but it would likely cost more than the Beginner license for the Web Service! :)

Good luck!

Re: Single Dynamic SQL Query inside Browser-Enabled Infopath Form

Thanks Patrick. I was afraid of that answer. Last night I was go through this post: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/9467/33496.aspx and saw it may be able to be done through programming. If I were to hard code it, does it affect the ability for the form to be published and accessed through form services?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Re: Single Dynamic SQL Query inside Browser-Enabled Infopath Form

Hi Shaun,

We built the Web Service to do this since it cannot be done programmatically without a Web Service. You can filter SharePoint list using qRules v2.0 and owssvr but for SQL filtering on the server, you'll have to install a server component.

Good luck!

Single Dynamic SQL Query inside Browser-Enabled Infopath Form

I have been searching all night for a solution and have found quite a bit on the web, but not enough to actually get things working.

I have three fields inside the form (from the Main Database) that need to be used to query a SQL database (Secondary connection). The issue with a traditional data connection is the time it takes to download the very large table. I really just need a single dynamic query to return one number. I would prefer not having to click a button. I also need the ability to retain the query so it saves with everything else.

I've thought about using a Web Service engine such as Qdabra, but would like to hold off if I can.

I would appreciate any help.
