Nor am I a dredger of swamps though ...

Seriously, though, if the extension of the file is XML and they have InfoPath 2003 installed, then it should be "easy as pie". My hunch-ola is that your attachment is somehow getting appending with .txt granola... Pour milk and see if that makes it less crunchy. :)

If you'd like to order breakfast from Qdabra, we're happy to sizzle your InfoPath bacon. Just go to Qdabra.com->Support and donate some small amount of money for one of our engineers. We'll call and take a peak. Should be an easy resolution though. This is not the way it should be.

Irreverent as usual...

Re: disable the view attachments button in an email data connection?

Hi Patrick -

Thanks for the response. You are correct, I'm using IP 2003 (guess I shoulda said that in my original post).

I'm not sure if I was clear - I don't want to get rid of the attachment; I want to remove the "view attachment" button that appears in the message dialog box. We need to send the attachment, but when the user clicks on the "view attachment" button, it doesn't show the form in IP, but rather it shows a text file with a bunch of code in it. Our users won't know what to make of that. As a matter of fact, our testers - supposedly IT folks - are a bit scared themselves.

I do have a copy of 2007, but our users only have 2003 and our server admins will not turn on some of the web services, so I don't have the option to render the form in the web browser. Saving down to 2003 doesn't seem to help either. Bleah!

Any other ideas?

Thank you again!

My recollection is tha tthis is a "piece of cake" with tricky frosting! Just delete the form name "frosting" in the wizard and you won't get an attachment. :)

Bon appetit!

disable the view attachments button in an email data connection?

Hi,

I've created a form that submits using an submit email data connection. It works great.

I sent it to some folks for testing before moving it into our production environment and one of the folks testing it clicked on the "view attachment" button only to see a notepad document come up with the form's XML displaying. Of course, this prompted a mild panic and a barrage of questions about what can be done with this. I'm wondering if there is a way to disable or even hide that "view attachment" button in the dialog box that comes up before the email is sent. I have been looking around and so far have had no luck figuring out how to handle this.

Any suggestions would be teriffic.

Thanks!
