filter by hidden field on secondary data source

Hi,

I have a sharepoint list which uses a custom item-based content type. The content type has a text column which is hidden. This is because its value is set in code, and it acts as a foreign key to a infopath form library.

Now I have an infopath task form in a workflow. I need to pull in the list items back into the form, and filter/hide based on the foreign key. If I add a receive sharepoint list data connection to the form, the hidden column is not shown. If I use XML and owssvr.dll, the hidden colunn is not shown!

So, how can I get my hidden column into infopath so that I can filter items based on its value?
