I modified the data structure and removed a couple unneeded relationships and viola! Database appeared in my submit choices and the form is a working. Thank you so much for you help on this. I really think the people that will use the form will appreciate the change.

Thank you again.

Re: I can't Submit

1. So you know, you've added jscript code to your form. It doesn't appear that you have actually written any script, just that you have added some event handlers. Did you maybe select the custom code option for submit?

2. When I walk back through the data connection wizard for your main data connection (following the steps I outlined for you in my first post), I can see in the submit status why currently submit is not allowed:

Submit status: Not allowed - One or more of the columns in the data source has a large binary data type such as text, ntext, hyperlink or image. Large binary data types are not supported.

The culprit would be the 'Description' field in the tblAbsences table.

After deselecting that, I get:

Submit status: Disabled - A many to one relationship might exist between two tables in the data source

You may need to rethink your data structure in order to be able to create a form from it that IP will allow submit on.

Re: I can't Submit

I get the popu message when I try to submit the form. I have attached the form and a mock version of the database. The original database contains a lot of private information so I attached a test version of that. I had both of them in the 'My Documents" folder

Re: I can't Submit

I may not have been clear enough. I do not mean for you to create a new data connection and select 'Submit' as the type. Your form was based off the Access database, is that correct? That is, when you created the form, you selected your database to create the form from? That is the only way InfoPath natively supports database submittal....

And when you say the message you get is in a popup -- when? When you try to submit the form?

Can you attach your form so I can take a quick peek at it? When you reply, select the Options tab and you can add the form template.

Re: I can't Submit

Thanks for getting back to me Hillary. I have re-run that wizard so many times, I think I'm going to see it in my sleep. The wizard connects to the database smoothly. I even checked out and tested the SQL code and it tests fine. When I look at the submit to options I see Email, Web service, SharePoint, Web Server, Custom using Form code, and Custom using rules. No database choice. I looked for a submission status on the page bottom, but didn't see anything. The message I get is in a popup that reads "InfoPath cannot submit the form. The onSubmitRequest event handler returned a value indicating that the even failed."

Re: I can't Submit

You should walk through the database wizard for your main data source connection again -- Tools / Data Connections and select your main connection and click Modify. The first screen will show your table and the selected columns, click Next to move to the final screen in the wizard, where you can enter the name for the connection. The 'Enable submit for this connection' checkbox will probably be disabled. Below that checkbox is some information about your database... in that, you will see Submit status at the bottom, with information on why you can't submit. If you need help fixing the problem, post the Submit status so we can see what the issue is....

I can't Submit

Real easy question I hope. I just created a form using Infopath 2003 that I connected to an Access database. My query and data is displayed beautifully. My problem is, I can't submit any changes or adds back to the database. I did some research and have set up a digital certificate and made the form Fully Trusted. When I look at Submitting Forms under the Tool menu "'Database " isn't even an option in the 'Submit to" box. What am I missing?
