An easy way to do this would be to use the EnumDB web service that comes with our DBXL product. It adds a web service layer between the client and the database so that you can easily integrate with your form. The problem with the way you are doing it now (from my understanding) is that you are storing the username/password in plaintext in the form template, which is a security hole.

Here's a link to show you how we would do it with DBXL, let me know if this helps! http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/dbxl/entry22514.aspx

SQL AUTHENTICATION

Hi,

I'am creating a drop down menu in a browser form that display list of names that retrieve from sql database.

When creating the data source, I use Window Authentication mode to connect to the database. When I do a testing, it works fine if I log into a sharepoint using the current username, but prompt error accessing the data source if I login to SharePoint using another username.

I try to change the log on credentials based on the sql server authentication but it failed to retrieve the database eventhough if I login using the current username.

Could you please advise if there are anything I should configure in order to make the drop down field appear and the data source available for everybody using their own login?

Thanks.
